If you don't cry a few times while reading this book, check your pulse. This is the 2nd of her books I've read. I'm captivated by her mission and the good she does rehabilitating both horses and broken people. My only criticism of the book is that her writing style is a little too "creative" and flowery -- sometimes I have to re-re-reread a paragraph or even a page to figure out what she's saying, and sometimes I just skip that section. I prefer straightforward writing.

These stories touched my heart. I already help support a horse rescue here in southern Arizona. I've never ridden a horse or owned one. It just seems the thing to do. Help these horses I mean. Thank for writing this wonderful book.

Love, love, love this book. To paraphase a song, I want more of this! This book is so inspiring, so heart tearing at times. But, it's also real life and the problems and joys that come with it. It's an encouragement to listen for God's voice in our lives. It's also a reminder that each of us can help another in their struggles. Another book, please Kim!

This collection of stories about how horses and humans can interact will touch the most hard-hearted among us. Not only do the stories relate the astounding human/ horse miracles that can take place, they also follow the author's walk of faith, doing the very things God has called her to do, putting everything on the line at times. For anyone who loves horses, or even those who don't, this book will inspire readers to look differently at animals in general and wonder what further things they can tell us. Reverence for all life should follow. Highly recommended.

. The book is second in the Left Behind Series by LaHaye and Jenkins. The series is based on a literal reading of the Book of Revelation in the New Testament. There is something exciting going on every five minutes. In the first book millions of people disappear, and the series follows the problems faced by those who are left behind. The main characters correctly guess the disappearances to be the Rapture, where Christ takes his faithful to heaven. After the Rapture there is a huge upswelling of interst in Christ, especially among the Jews, and thousands of conversions. But all this happens as Christians are coping with WWIII, a worldwide earthquake, dodging the Antichrist, and bringing people to Christ. I'm the opposite of a fundamentalist, but these are some of the most exciting and uplifting books I've ever read.

Excellent suspense and great characters lead the way for the sequel of Left Behind and I actually liked better than the first novel. This novel is for anyone that wants to read a great story regardless of spiritual beliefs.The world has been turned upside down by the rapture. Loved ones have vanished and people that are left are asking questions. For Rayford Steele and daughter Chloe and their new friend Cameron "Buck" Williams the answer is clear, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has taking their loved ones to be with Him in Heaven. And now they must survive the horrors that lie ahead. As the Tribulation force must is preparing to survive at any cost they must become face to face with the antichrist Nicolae Carpathia who is already put his plan into motion to rule the world. With the horrors to follow, World War III, disease and natural disasters our heroes are trying to stay ahead of the evil that is Nicolae. This novel does an excellent job of continuing to develop characters and keeping the pace fast and interesting and as I mentioned above is actually has a better pace than book one. This novel continues the relationship between Buck and Chloe which is fun and familiar to those who have been in love.Whether you are a Christian or not I highly recommend this novel and this series. If you are a believer you will find this conforting because you won't have to experience what is coming and what takes place in this novel. I had all of the original 12, except for this book, the second in the series. First disappointment was the condition of the dust jacket; small tears in 2 or three places. The original series were 9 & 8/16thsâ€ tall &6 & 6/ 16thsâ€ wide. The book received was8 & 8/16thsâ€ tall & 5 & 14/16thsâ€ wide. So this book purchased was an inch shorter and a half inch shorter in width. Not acceptable.

This whole book series is well written and based on Biblical research and truth, making the fiction scenarios throughout the books very possible & even likely, in my opinion. Regardless if the reader sees the story as possibly happening in real life or not, it's hard to put down! When I first started the series right after "Left Behind" came out years ago, it was difficult to wait for the next one to be published! Both my daughters read them while in college and finished the series as fast as they could. Several friends of mine were reading the series around the same time as I did and we all traded books among us whenever possible. It was the hot topic of conversation whenever we got together. Now my second husband is reading them and could hardly wait for book 2 to arrive after I ordered it! It was a challenge for him to wait a couple days & not go buy it off the shelf someplace!! I had kept all my original books - except book 2, 3 & 5 were missing! Now my oldest daughter wants to start reading this series to her 2 kids when he is finished with the 1st 3 books...& so it goes!

As Nicolae Carpathia continues his rise to power behind a facade of peace and reconciliation, will even America dare to oppose him? And will the Tribulation Force be able to stay under the Antichrist's radar even as Rayford Steele and Buck Williams find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into his malevolent web? Exciting and extraordinarily well thought out, "Tribulation Force" is both fun and thoughtful and inspiring as well. Some criticize the authors for injecting a heavy dose of romance into the story with this book, but in fact the burgeoning love between Chloe Steele and Buck is handled particularly well and it's not as if Christians are universally called to celibacy. God is the father of love and saw fit to put the first couple together, after all. Yes, Christians need love too! Theologically the authors stay in tune with modern Evangelicals, but in my opinion even Christians from other churches can still derive a lot of pleasure and satisfaction from this moving saga. A great book on its own terms and a compelling lead-in to the next entry in the series, "Nicolae," which promises to be even more exciting. Highly recommended!

One clearly has to read this book in order to follow the story of the series. However, the book is not well written, with many pages taking up seemingly arbitrary story line, only to be followed by a rush job at the end to move the story along. One almost gets the impression of disjointed ghost writers being asked to do little bits which are included at the end. But the styles and story telling of these paragraphs vary from the main book - almost as if the plot is not quite clear.The oddities of the first book hand over here too - e.g. Trying to update the story line in the modern electronic age but not applying the update uniformly --> confusing!

Fiona MacDonald and Mark Bergen have written and illustrated countless children's historical books. They can usually be counted upon to deliver a great children's book. Yet, "Marco Polo: A Journey Through China" does not deliver to their usual high standards. Although Fiona MacDonald is a fine writer, her narrative is disrupted by the use of distracting panels. These panels running along the top and bottom of the page are fussy and take away from the flow of her story. The illustrations by Mark Bergen are also dissapointing. They look slap dash in composition and lack the attention to detail that one usually expects in his work. I think that John Riddle and Robert Ingpen do a much better job of retelling Marco Polo' story in "Great Names-Marco Polo".

This is an amazing book that is rich in detail and description, with an interesting plotline that drives the book forward. All of the characters are extremely well-developed and the reader can easily empathize with the main character as she struggles to fit in in her rich suburban neighborhood in New Jersey while at the same time trying to stand out in the colorful Philadelphia art world. The best part of this book is the picture that the author paints of both worlds, that allows the reader to visualize the scenes in vivid detail. I would highly recommend this book to any teenage reader from ages 13-20.

I got this book on my Kindle and I was reading it so much the battery died!!!! Lol but it was awesome. I didn't expect to like it this much honestly. i'm in the stage where I'm moving from "kids books" to "teen books" (its a hard stage!!!!!!) and this book was perfect. I haven't read A Little Friendly Advice or The List but I plan to. The author has a cool way of writing. She's descriptive, but not overly descriptive. She's straight-forward. I can really see inside Emily (the main character's) brain. There's nothing too inappropriate in here. it has some romance but really what teen book doesn't?? There's a few bad words, but only about five or six. That's the only part I didn't like, the bad words. The characters used them for no reason at all! Well, I guess that's teenagers for ya. But otherwise it is completely appropriate and I totally love it! I'd recommend it to anyone 12+.

Siobhan Vivian's characters have a depth, which makes Same Difference truly engaging. The story line is relatable, yet offbeat enough that it doesn't mirror every high school girl in America's life. Emily is torn between who she thinks she wants to be - a popular high school girl who hangs out with the right crowd and fits in - and the person she truly is - an artist with a unique perspective on life as well as art. She struggles with and resists the opportunity to evolve, both as a person and as an artist. What makes the story interesting is the rich characters that Vivian creates. They are likable, flaws and all. They are so well developed that even once the book is back on the shelf, you find yourself wondering what has happened to them. I highly recommend Same Difference.

She loved the first book that she read from this author so i figured I would get more of the books. She cant seem to put it down. Good stuff for her.

Cumings brilliantly examines the history of events which eventually resulted in this military campaign.What truly captured this readerâ€™s attention is Cumingsâ€™ discussion of Americaâ€™s military strategy, specifically our nationâ€™s engagement in a scorched-earth air campaign against North Korea. He described it as similar in nature to the US and British air assaults on Germany in the months leading up to the fall of Hitlerâ€™s Third Reich, ending the European segment of WW II. He tells of the destruction of all the major cities in N. Korea. He relates the hundreds of thousands of Korean civilians who lost their lives in the North.The author also narrates the numerous massacres of Korean women, children and the elderly, as well as those branded as political prisoners and prisoners of war. Cumings discusses the actions of South Korean police and soldiers who carried out the slaughter of North and many South Koreans who were suspected of assisting enemy forces as well as allies of the Japanese.Cumings also describes the efforts on the part of high-ranking Americans who were cabinet members in the Truman Administration, citing specifically Dean Acheson, Trumanâ€™s Secretary of State. Much to my delight, the author has included a lengthy reading list to which I can turn to fuel my interest in the history and politics of the two Koreas.

This is not a typical 'war history'. The first chapter is a short summary of the battle years, but the book is a more scholarly work that situates that war in the history of China, Korea, Japan and the U.S. How did the war come about? What events, forces and personalities played a role in it's inception and ensuing history. Highly recommend but don't imagine it's a quick read. That said, it is an enjoyable read and it will teach you more than your expectations.

Incredible history that was very enlightening. Iâ€™ve got 2 history degrees but Iâ€™ve not been exposed to the horrors of this misadventure by our civilian & military leaders during that period in our nations history.

The Korean war was a loser from the start. All wars need to be fought to win. Plan well, equip for success, inform participants and execute. This war was poorly planned and executed. Soldiers were ill equipped and sacrificed without the resources to win. Our soldiers are the best, bravest and they deserve our support.

The author seemed to loosely follow the timeline. I kinda got lost a few times. Not knowing much about the Korean War, this book gave me an interesting insight into what happened.

This book is a demystifying account of the origins, development, and consequences of the Korean War. The colonial legacy and occupation of Korea by Japan is considered and discussed as a key juncture in Korea's tragic history. The defeat of Japan and the very influential presence of American and Soviet forces as a major catalyst in the political development of the Korean society is intelligently discussed. The catastrophic and traumatic experience of the Korean War are analyzed; Cumings rightly emphasizes on the savagery of this conflict(astonishing death and suffering experienced by socially fragile agrarian society)and the rarely discussed destruction of Korean cities after 1950. Cumings argues that this war did not only dramatically change destiny of the Korean nation, but also deeply impacted and forged the direction of the foreign policy of the U.S...I highly recommend this very intelligent book.

Good for learning socio-political backstory of the war. The peninsula is more coherent per history with China-Manchuria, Russsia, modern Jorean states, Japan, and America. NOT a good history of actual military maneuvers during the war. Took off one star. Also the author can be considered left of center, not outright biased or unacademic, but his choice of focus is definitely deliberate. Not a lot of histories discuss SOUTHERN atrocities. This book almost exclusively discusses these. This author meant to correct an academic imbalance in understanding o the DPRK. He did NOT set out to explain the military operations, movements, or maneuvers of the war.

Besides the military history it showcases the u.s. support of a brutal dictator who murdered his own people a precursor to Vietnam and Afghanistan it appears the US never learns not to back dictators

I've been following Archana's recipes from her blog Ministryofcurry.com..Her recipes are simple, authentic and Instant Pot has made them easier than ever.Cooking Indian food is time consuming and needs monitoring. But with Archana's simple recipes in the Instant Pot it is possible to enjoy authentic Indian food without the fuss.My favorite recipes are Chickpea curry, Red Kidney bean curry, Paneer and vegetable biryani, Paneer in spinach sauce, cabbage rice (from her blog) and sweet rice porridge.I just received my copy of the book and I highly recommend this book as it has got recipes for breakfast, main course and desserts. She has also included recipes for some accompaniments with the main course like raitas (yogurt based side dish). It's nice to see how she has covered some of the most popular recipes across India.If you are unfamiliar with Indian cooking the book provides information on spice blends and items you need to stock in your pantry. This book belongs on your kitchen counter!

This is such a wonderful cookbook. Being from India, my mother always cooked a majority of these recipes in this book. However, when I was at the age to learn, I would watch her, and try and write down the recipes. It was a palmful of this spice, a smaller palm of this spice, etc., etc. Never did I get the exact recipe from my mother. So when I would try out various recipes I wanted to have, before getting married, there was a lot of experimentation going on in my kitchen. Enter "The Essential Indian Instant Pot Cookbook". Such wonderful recipes, all laid out clearly and easily, and in front of me, and yes I can still experiment with the spices, as my nine year old son, does not like his Indian food 'too spicy', so we always have to tone down the spices for him, but still maintain the taste.The reference at the end of the book is a great shopping list when I go to various Indian/Oriental stores, and make sure I always have the right spices I might need in the days ahead.Thank you for writing this book, and as an Indian-American (yes I am an ABCD) and for those that might not know what I mean ABCD stands for American Born Confused Desi (Indian). It makes all those recipes I tried to learn years ago, a simple task these days!

He's courageously honest in telling about, and taking responsibility for, the harm he caused. I also appreciate that this doesn't have one of those "and now everything's totally fine" endings -- this one is more realistic, making clear that things can improve *and* one can cope with ongoing mental-health issues.By the way, to anyone who has heard that this isn't a real disorder: while it's true that some incompetent therapists influenced some patients to believe they had multiple personalities when they really didn't, that in no way means that there aren't people really suffering from this. Recently diagnosed with DID, I started with his book and I really enjoyed taking this journey with Bob. It gives me a lot of hope as I face my own unknown journey. I think it gives very good insight into the mind of one with DID and is a good read for anyone wanting a peak inside the mind of a multiple.

I read this book a few months ago and initially did a review of it for my news letter. For several years I have been fascinated with Dissociative Identity Disorder and have read many books and case studies about it over time. I was intrigued with "A fractured mind"and how the remaining three alters of the author collaborated to write an inside account of this disorder. Robert B. Oxnam was not the first one whose alters collaborated to write a book about his experiences with it. I am sure several people can recall Truddi Chases long book " When Rabbit Holwes" which was Authored by Truddi and The Troops, which is what she called her inner system. Truddi Chase had ninety alter personalities. Anyway, back to the book A fractured Mind. What I think certain critics should understand is that when dealing with a book written by a person with DID you are not hearing or reading the voice of just one person or author. You are hearing /reading the voice of what could be several authors. One person who complained about the profanity used in A Fractured Mind should have taken this fact into account. It was not the "voice" of Robert B.Oxnam that was using profanity but that of one of his Alters. Probably it was the voice of one of the angry ones. It could have been the Witch or Tommy. It could have been the internal voice that Oxnam took in from one of his abusers as the witch was. Robert Oxnam internalized his abusers messages and that is how the witch was created. The Witch was the voice and image of one of the people who abused him. The abuser who claimed to be a witch when she abused him. His being so young at the time he believed her and didn't know that she was lying to him about being a witch just to frighten a young boy into submission. I believe even after a person with DID has been integrated that it is still impossible to access all the painful memories of the abuse that caused the condition in the first place. We all have internal filters that block and repress memories that are perhaps too painful and detrimental for our psyches to handle. I do not have DID but I also do not have a full range of memories of my childhood. Whether or not to integrate or to work towards integration is an extremely personal choice for the person who has DID and the process can be very painful and long from what I have read about it. Some people with this condition do choose to cooperate with each individual alter rather than integrate into one personality while others choose to go the route of integration. Whatever the decision or choice of the person with DID he should not be scrutanized for it and his choice of therapy should be respected. As fascinating as this condition is it is extremely difficult to live with and deal with. I think those with DID who have written reviews for this book should support each persons' odyssey into wholeness or cooperation rather than pick a part one persons story and journey. Everyone with DID should intergrate with each other and support one another as this condition needs all the understanding, compassion and empathy it can get as well as the people who have to live with it. I fully enjoyed and was fascinated with a Fractured Mind. Also I should stress that A fractured Mind is a book meant for Adults and not children. The subject matter and nature of the abuse suffered by the author when he was a baby maybe too difficult for children to read. There is nothing pleasant about child abuse or abuse of any form and to require the author to clean up the language of one of his alters would not do justice to the book and his story. In fact to do so would take a way some of the validity of the book and the authors story and experiences. I for one highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to know what the world is really like to some and not a cleaned up version of it. I was simply fascinated by Robert B. Oxnam's book and I think those with an open mind would be too.

I recommend this book for anyone interested in Dissociative Identity Disorder, Professionals, or people who live with the disorder. Dr. Oxnam's book has stood the test of time because he has managed to write a book that tells his story of his multiple selves from their perspectives without confusing the reader. Allowing a glimpse into what it is like to realize you have DID, the process of therapy, and healing. Amazing book. Thank you, Dr. Oxnam.

The book was well written. I am a therapist so I can really appreciate the details into the mind and how it was able to integrate as well as the limitations of it. I was suprised to read very little detail into the actual abuse, however. This is a direct link and root of the split and it would be interesting to know, in this particular case the time and thinking at the point of dissociation. I am impressed with the strength and creativity of the mind and how it constructs to survive. I had many emotions come up throughout this book but all along wondering how someone can reach the age of 60 before gaining some insight into such disturbing pathology, without having a healthy or unhealthy dose of Narcissism.Also wondering why there was little mention of his family; his previous wife and children. I would imagine that this would be tremendous source of objectivity of this condition. I realize this book was written to understand "inside" the mind on MPD however, I would think that the family who had to endure the range of emotions and "switches" would be just as painful, confusing & difficult. There was very little acknowlegment to the family left in the wake of all these personalities. As if they were dicarded so he could begin his "healing" journey, become "well" and meet and marry someone else who accepts him!?!Who was the father to his children? Who was the husband to his wife? where are they? How are they?I would be very interested in reading their story.

Fascinating book about the life of a PhD with eleven personalities! A must read for anyone with a friend or family member with MPD, or for students of Psychology or Counseling.

Very interesting read, helps shed light on the patient/survivors experience.

Excellent Book! The author gave a very realistic account of his life with multiple personalities. He described in very specific detail the very personal events that occurred for him and how he came to live with the disorder and the treatment he received.
