All in all, I'm very pleased with this audiobook. It obviously will not go into depth like a textbook would for reviewing over topics.. but it is a very good learning and reviewing tool to listen to whenever you're driving, on the go, waiting in line when you're out somewhere, etc. For those days where my eyes were totally strained from my computer desk job, this audiobook was a good use of my time to at least help me get some concepts into my head for the day. I'd consider this as a good supplemental tool in addition to using MCAT review books, MCAT review apps, flashcards, MCAT youtube videos, AAMC practice Q banks, etc.

Keeps me content while commuting, material is fabulous

Used this for MCAT prep. Information was to the point, easy to listen to, and easy to follow-along with. Good for audio learners.

This is a wonderful book for young people (and adults as well) who are interested in learning about the life and many accomplishments of Sally Ride. The photos are true gems and the anecdotal remembrances as documented by her life partner, Dr. Tam O'Shaughnessy, add a special perspective to her private life. The mind and interests of Sally Ride were as expansive and evolving as the universe she had studied as a college student, and had explored as an astronaut. She led a full life and provides proof, as she insisted to others through her company Sally Ride Science, that scientists are real people too. Great book. Highly recommend to all!

I bought this for a child who is amazed by Sally Ride and her contributions as an astronaut. The photo history is fabulous. Due to the age of the child, I was disappointed that comments about sexual orientation were part of this historical account. All other information was fascinating. However, it was preferable that the child read it with an adult to work through those included passages.

A fabulous find for my daughter who deeply admires Sally Ride. It is filled with pictures that visually share the story of Sally Ride's life in a very personal way, from childhood to adulthood. Tam O'Shaughnessy explains how Sally Ride kept memorabilia of her life and these items are turned into pictures for the book. I highly recommend this for young children who are interested in biographies.

I wish this came with a 6-star rating. I got this for Christmas 2015. During a quiet lull in the festivities I read the first two chapters. it was interesting. I learned more about Sally that wasn't covered in Lynn Sherr's biography. It fills in those spaces and helps me to understand Sally Ride better. Interesting photos throughout. Great for pre-teens and even adults.

My daughter loves this book. She read it in a day and told me all about it afterward.

One of the best biographies I have read - very well written and my Astronomy Society is now donating this book to local libraries! I highly recommend it.

Excellent book, very well written. My daughter needed it for a school project and it helped immensely.

A pioneer in breaking barriers, space exploration, and science education, her passions are detailed through the eyes and heart of one her knew her best and loved her most. Highly recommended for young adults (and adults of any age).

I feel this book deserves a much higher score for the information it contains about this under-represented area of gardening. I hate to see a book trashed for odd reasons and would like to elaborate on why I value this book.One reader has a problem with the fact that this book is not for the Four-Corners area. As one who lives in sizzling Phoenix, I can relate to the disappointment of not having books relate to my area. (So few books relate to Phoenix that it's fantastic to find a good one that does.) The description of the book in Amazon and on the cover of the book may not have adequately given away it's low-desert content, but that doesn't make it a bad book. If the book had been flipped through at a book store, the buyer would have known whether the book met their needs. Buying on Amazon is a short-cut. The fact that we are giving up our ability to peruse every page is the down side to the ease of purchase and lower prices we pay.Another reader didn't like the fact that everyone in their neighborhood had a copy of this book. Sounds like whoever recommended it was being very responsible in urging water conservation and in steering homeowners toward plants that won't die the first season they are planted. The fact that Phoenix nurseries sell plants that won't live here without excessive babying leads many people down the wrong path. Crispy plants are a disappointing phenomenon that plagues gardeners without sufficient knowledge of the locale.Of all the arguments, the one about the photos being too small is the only one that actually pertains to this book. Yes, the pictures are small. But the book is so good that I'm happy to do a "G00gle Images" search to see what MANY photos of a plant look like before deciding if I want it. To me, detailed information about each plant is of more value than expensive, space-consuming photos. I am a veteran in the publishing business and if the book containing this many plants accompanied by large photos, the expense of the book would be phenomenal.Buyers, give this book a chance -- and remember G00gle Images for an array of photos that will provide greater knowledge of any plant from ANY book.

I checked out this book from the library and found it so helpful that I purchased it. It's well organized and very thorough regarding which plants do well under which conditions. I do wish that it had specifically listed, among other characteristics such as cold hardiness, where the plant was native to, for those of us who focus on native plant gardening.

I purchased this from Amazon a few years ago and have referred to it many times a year since then, Whenever I wish to add a new perennial I check out what Mary Irish has to say. In addition the many fine photos in the book show what the plant will look like at maturity. This book and thothers by Mary Irish are essential for successful desert gardening. Mary Irish shares her own personal experiences when she has grown the plant in her own yard or at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix where she worked for many years.

Most of the flowers featured here seem to be geared towards more traditional gardens. I really was expecting more vegetation that could be easily taken care of in Las Vegas. The most of the plants worked well for me on the front range in Colorado but I think that a lot won't take the heat of lack of water very well in the summer time here.

Another winning book by author Mary Irish! I have several of her books, and the style and information within is wonderful. The first part of the book includes designing your landscape, as well as garden prep, the care of perennials and disease/pests. Much of the information relates to plant care in general, so it's a great benefit for any gardener. Add to that the pages upon pages of recommended perennials, with color photos, and it makes for a great reference book for the arid gardener.

This book is very helpful to the desert gardener. Most of the local garden centers don't have a clue as to what plants will grow in our area, but sell them to you anyway. Mary Irish has taken the guesswork out of what to buy and where to plant items that will flourish here, and thereby saves you a lot of disappointment in your gardening. Thank you very much Ms Irish for this book.

We completed the Alta Via I trek, relying primarily on this book's Alta Via I directions and on online maps we downloaded independently. The book was helpful for getting a sense of the general route. However, if you've used the Tour du Mont Blanc guide by the same publisher (Cicerone), you might be surprised by how much less detailed the trek information is in this book. The TMB guide had detailed trail directions, with all elevation gains and losses, and it listed, mapped or described all forks and intersections. In the Dolomites book many intersections were simply not listed or described. I think that the book would benefit substantially from mapping the trails that intersect with the AV route. If we had not had supplemental trail maps, it would have been impossible to follow the book's directions. The elevation information provided was also misleading. For example, one of the Alta Via sections was described as a "very easygoing day," and based on the various elevations provided along the route, one would infer only gross total elevation gains/losses of about 50-100m. However, the gross elevation changes that day were about 1400m (700m up and back down again) that day -- not impossible, but hardly "easygoing." We found that hiking time estimates were also quite inconsistent. If you used and loved the TMB guide published by Cicerone, don't expect the same from the Dolomites guide.

My wife and I used this Exceptional book to hike the Alta Via 1 route across the Dolomites in August, 2013. We did not buy or need any additional maps or books. Gillian Price provides enough information information to plan your route ahead of time and to easily find the trail each day without taking away the discovery and adventure by giving too much detail.As the book mentions, you will need to bring cash (in Euro) to pay for food and lodging at the Rifugios (huts). If you need to exchange money, the best exchange rate in Italy (by far) is at the post office. We saved over a hundred Euro by exchanging U.S. dollars at the main post office in Venice (ask your hotel for directions).The following update might help hikers who want to do the via ferrata variant described at the end of Alta Via 1 but do not want to carry a climbing harness for eight days. The author mentions that the alpine guide at Refugio 7 Alpini can provide via ferrata kit and expert accompaniment. That guide is no longer working. However, you can rent via ferrata kit from the alpine guide at Refugio San Sebastiano (passed in Stage 9) and drop it off at the end of the trip in Belluno.If you are trying to decide whether to hike in the Dolomites, we highly recommend them. We have backpacked around the world (including impressive ranges in the Rockies, Sierras, Patagonia, Bolivia, Russia, and Central Asia) and we found the Dolomites to repeatedly offer some of the most spectacular vistas we have seen.

I am in the midst of planning a trek along Alta Via 2. I agonized briefly over what book to buy, and ended up landing on Trekking in the Dolomites. I have certainly not been disappointed. The information in the book is very helpful. There have been some inaccuracies with regard to the open/close dates for some of the Rifugios, and I have spent a good deal of time online making more detailed plans, but the book has been invaluable to me.A few details:The maps that are provided are ample for low-level planning, but I suspect some additional, larger maps will be needed to accurately navigate the trails.The book is not particularly great about letting you know about some important details: do you need to arrive by a certain time for meals to be served (some rifugio require this, others don't)? Is water available along the trail?There are frequent callouts in the book, but they don't seem to call out the components of the hike that are most important to a traveler. You need to read through each of the "chapters" to get the details necessary for planning.This is absolutely a helpful resource, but there are a few drawbacks. I recommend visiting some websites in conjunction with the book when planning your trip. I am going in early October and will certainly update my review if there are any other significant discrepancies. Nevertheless, if you are trekking AV, you should probably buy this now.

The book is nicely written but the level of details given for each stage and description of the trek is lacing. I was missing details on long/hard climes, long descents, boulders and ferratas. In addition some pointers on places the trek is not well shown would have helped. I was expecting something in the line of an older book from trailblazer I have use in the passed when walking in the dolomites.

Good review of the most common routes in the Dolomites that tend to be crowded. Other routes are out there with a little internet research. Plan ahead, the Refugios book up early. But some stunning country though don't expect a USA style back-country experience though.

Using this guidebook for the whole AV2 route makes clear that it's pretty good. The advice on alternate routes was particularly welcome.You really see its value when you head into an area with less information available.The maps are so-so; that is unfortunately the usual for Ciccerone.

Convenient backpack size. Appears to be a useful guide, but I have to actually use it on the trail to determine accuracy and adequacy. Nice photos. No topographic maps, only schematics. For the price, I would have preferred that it included some actual topos. No GPS coordinates. No leg-to-leg breakdown of distances.

Trails are for climbing and heavy duty trekking. If you are walking or regular hiking, buy the walking book.

I appreciate Carrie Green and her teachings, but initially I was hesitant to purchase this book. I thought to myself do I really need another book with more information on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Now don't get me wrong I can be an information junkie, but sometimes that's all it is information without practical instruction. Well I gave in and decided to purchase this book and I am very glad I did. First of all Carrie infuses her story throughout the book, which makes it very relatable. The chapters are short and to the point and have practical action steps for you to take. Not only does Carrie discuss the nuts and bolts on how to start, build and grow your business she also has several chapters on mindset and self-care. Things us entrepreneurs tend to forget about. Throughout the book Carrie uses words to celebrates and encourage you. It is if she is right beside you cheering you on. Helping you to believe you can have a successful business.I highly recommend this book for all entrepreneurs no matter what stage you are in their business. It's s book I will read often.

I was disappointed but not surprised by the lack of substance this book provided. It's a nice motivational book but it doesn't really help you in starting your own business. The content on Carrie's blog and website are very similar: a lot of encouragement but not very deep. I just started my business and I've gathered a lot of helpful advice and ideas for FREE online but I paid for this book and most of what I got from it, I could have found online at little to no cost. I think the book is nice if you're feeling down about the direction of your business and need a boost but even still, the book didn't necessarily motivate me. In fact, it disheartened me a bit because Carrie had this supportive network of people to help her and give business advice which most of us who are just starting our business do not have. Her so called "encouragement" was unrealistic for those who are starting a business from scratch and have no real support or mentors to reach out to. Majority of the book was just giving examples of business success stories from friends of hers and they too had some sort of support, whether it be from Carrie herself or family. Not everyone has that kind of luxury and privilege to have a group of people in high places who are behind you all the way and will reach out to help as much as they can. Bottomline, this book will make you feel good at the beginning but won't give you a realistic approach to starting and maintaining a successful business.

If you are a serious female entrepreneur or want to be one, and are going to purchase a single book to learn from, this is the one! I have been a business owner for 18 years, and it is important to always be learning. I've read many business & personal development books throughout the years. But "She Means Business" is more than a book. This is a business course. It is a blueprint on how to actually go through the steps, change your mindset, and even includes downloadable resources, a private Facebook group, webinars and so much more! I purchased both the hard copy book & the audio book. I've listened to the audio book 3 times in 3 weeks since the book came on the market. I think having both has been the perfect bundle for me! The author, Carrie Green, is the narrator, and really gives the book life. If you've ever watched & listened to Carrie online, you quickly get to know her personality, and that is carried through in her book. In the 3 times I have listened to it, I "hear" valuable points that I didn't quite hear the first time (or second time). When reading the book, I am able to connect her voice with the words and it really resonates with me even more. This resource is truly worth thousands of dollars. Carrie is a visionary. She brings great wisdom, and backs it up with her own trials & tribulations, plus has the vision to help every female entrepreneur that wants help. I am impressed that a woman as young as Carrie has made such great strides professionally, and has the maturity & business know-how of a much more seasoned successful business woman. You won't find another exceptional business resource like this that is so affordable! I also highly recommend soaking up as many resources as you can from Carrie online. She will help you change your life for the better-if you are ready!

The Eyewitness series are great books! The feature I find to be the best is all the photos and explanations of what is available to see. They give an overview that I have found the best for each place I have visited for which I have purchase the book. We have bought books for both the USA and Europe. This one is no exception--it is informative and the pictures are great before the trip. They also make wonderful memoirs to remember what you have seen after your trip. I have kept all of them for that reason. I heartily recommend!!

Provides a great general overview of most destinations and some smaller notable cities Nothing much in detail. Would be perfect for the traveler who only has a day or two to see each city- not good for someone staying several days and needing more information.

We tried countless number of guidebooks over the years until discovering the DK series. We aren't quite at the point of not going someplace because there's no DK guide for it, but we think about it. The rich illustrations, suggested reasonable itineraries, updated directory information, and wonderful descriptive information makes this series the best. Yes, it's a little more expensive than some others, but we figure that it's chump change when compared with the value it adds to our trips.

This guide will serve you pretty well for a short trip to Istanbul. I love the color and glossiness of DK Eyewitness guides, but they are often prettier than practical. However, for a city that has a strong tourism infrastructure and a lot of historic sites, per say, their guides serve you well (Paris being another example of a useful Eyewitness Guide). The detailed and descriptive cut-aways of Hagia Sophia, Dolmabahce, the Archeology Museum, Topkapki, The Blue Mosque, etc...were a great companion guide to understand the historical significance of these sites. There is also a nice overview of the different bazaars and a section on Bosphorus cruising (including pictorial maps which helped me to identify different points on the riverside). If you are to spend more time in Istanbul and go beyond the major sites, you might want to go with one of the thicker, less glossier guides. As with all DK Eyewitness guides, the "Practicals" section is brief, but with Istanbul I didn't feel like there was a lot of special planning to do. Their restaurant sections don't tend to be particularly useful (Brief statements where everything ends up sounding the same), so if you end up picking this guide, I would do some restaurant research online apart from it. Otherwise, it holds up as a solid short trip guide, and the glossy map of the city (incl. public transport) is sort of the icing on the cake.

Disappointing: the sheer weight of this little guide is I believe unjustified. Our group took turns carrying it! We found more practical information online!

Very beautiful travel guide. I wish there was more about villages though, anyone who comes to PL should visit a small town! Nonetheless, for the content that is included, it is well written and easy to read. Amazing photographs and diagrams too. The quality was great too, clean cut pages, durable cover, and nothing was damaged during shipping. I am very content with my purchase.

Anytime we visit a major city, I like to get the Eyewitness Guide. The beautiful photos and diagrams make it easy to plan and navigate a visit, alleviate some of the pressure to photograph absolutely everything, and make great mementos once you get home. The Istanbul guide is a great example of Eyewitness guides at their best. I especially like the way sections are organized as guided walks, with maps embedded into each section. However the text in the series is always a bit minimal, so I would always purchase it along with another, more informative guide to get the historical and cultural context of what I'm looking at, as well as practical travel information. For Istanbul we bought the Rick Steve's guide as well, which we found to be excellent. Together the two books allowed us to get around easily and really appreciate what we were looking at.

I love DK books and this one is no exception. We went to France and visited the Loire Valley this Fall. I actually bought after the fact as a memento of that area. I really enjoy it!
