There are numerous improvements and hike design features that will enable novice hikers to feel more confident in exploring Montana. Priced under $20 it is a bargain and an investment that will pay off many times for me. My hobby is running a hiking group through meetup.com called Helena Hikers. We hike all over Montana and honestly I was spending half my hike planning time just trying to follow poorly written directions to trailheads that were in previous editions. What I am saying is, even if you can get a previous edition at a deep discount - DON'T. The new edition is the only way to go. No need to make your hike experience difficult, the authors have truly reached a new peak with the Hiking Montana book. My copy will become well used very quickly.

This is the best hiking guide I have. Beautiful photos, great information. I especially love that it includes difficulty levels.

While Fenn may have used cyphers and clues within the context of his poem, the initial phrases offered here are pure conjecture, and using complex cyphering on arbitrary phrases is pointless. This entire process is pointless. When Fenn's treasure is found, nothing remotely useful from this book will be shown to be the case.Save your money, unless you want a string of arcane cartoon characters that interweave disparate parts of Fenn's life into a solve.Save you money, not worth ten bucks and not worth the read.

I can't believe how complicated and far left field Mr Briggs made this hunt for Fenns treasure!!! He took a simple poem and complicated it as though it were a spy novel! His information and explanations are so confusing it's no wonder he can't find the treasure himself and neither will anyone else following his conspiracy theories . Using ciphers, baseball cards, and a whole slew of other ridiculous ideas, either this book is an honest misguided attempt to sell and make Mr Biggs money, or he wants to ensure others are thrown way off the real search for the treasure! It was a struggle to read past the first ten pages but I figured I already threw my money away, why not finish it? When I bought the book I didn't expect to find the treasure based off his clues, but hoped to gain a different perspective to think outside the box. Instead this book was like expecting to read a Western but ended up with boring world war 2 spy novel. The ideas are so far off from anything Forrest Fenn would have used. This was not only a waste of money and time, but a total waste of intellect!!! Buy Forrest Fenns books and stay clear of this crazy code, ciphers, conspiracy theory nonsense. A horrible boring read and totally ridiculous in my opinion.

I'm sure Briggs is smart, but you will find nothing of value in this. Fenn is not a numbers, code, cipher guy, therefore the solve will be faaaaaar from this idea... Fenn even said he couldn't find the treasure with Briggs' solve.

Another rather ridiculously overly cooked solve but who knows? Take away what you will from it and use what you can in your solve. I did like the Jefferson encryption and Forrest did get a bit lost looking for Lewis and Clarke but there is just too much involved to make it work.If Mr. Fenn had wanted it to be this difficult, he would have expected no one to ever find IndulgenceBy the way we have always called Oreos, Oreos.

Worst book I’ve ever read. How can I get a refund? He makes up ridiculous fake solves and ciphers to fit some strange theory.

The author has a wild imagination. His interpretation is so far fetched it is ridiculous! Don't waste your money on this Nonense

The conclusion is wrong for many reasons, but that was a given considering no one has yet found it. If you buy this book to pick and choose ideas and clues out, it's worth the money for sure. Forrest did say himself Andrew Briggs was close. How he was close, is up to you to decide.

About the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.

The best introductory guide to the stars and constellations, bar none! It has numerous features which makes learning the constellations much easier and more fun. Here are a few examples:(1) H.A. Rey has done a great service by redrawing the constellations (using the same stars) so that they *actually* look like the figure they represent. This is in contrast to so many other constellation drawings (by others) that bear no resemblance at all to the figure they supposedly represent. They come in two varieties: either they are lifelike representations with no correlation at all between the figure and the individual stars or they are stick figures that look more like abstract art!(2) Rather than deluging you with lots of irrelevant facts, H.A. Rey has chosen some very pertinent, interesting facts and anecdotes to share about the stars and the constellations. These are the kind of facts that are fun to share with others when you introduce them to the constellations!(3) H.A. Rey has very wisely left the more detailed and technical explanations for discussion later in the book. He starts off by telling you just the basics that you need to start stargazing right away!(4) On the Calendar Chart pages you will see two star charts on facing pages. On the left you'll see just the stars and on the right you'll see the stars with the connecting lines to show the constellations. Going back and forth between the pages is a great way to start to memorize the celestial patterns so that when you get outside it will be easier to pick them out!

In 1954, my Dad bought me this book and my first pair of binoculars. I was 8 years old and still have it with me. I read every page and spent many hours on top of our house in Denver winter and summer to develop my interest in Astronomy. Everyone thought I was crazy including my Dad and brothers. I got my first of several telescopes 2 years later and started to take my first crude pictures. I joined the Denver Astronomical Society and learned how to grind reflecting telescope mirrors. I was the first to earn the Astronomy merit badge in scouts in Denver in over 20 years. I graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Astronomy in 1968. The war took me in another direction with an IT career for the next 40 years, but my love was always with the stars and Astronomy thanks to this H. A. Rey book in the 50s. I have traveled many miles to witness many astronomical events including 2 total solar eclipses in Yakima, Washington in 1979 and last year's 2017 event in Baker City, Oregon with my special cameras. I have hosted star gazing parties for kids and adults and I always recommend this book. I now have a chance to use it all over again with my wife, family, and friends on super clear nights from our mountain cabin as an old retired guy on our deck. No more rooftops! Just downloaded this digital version to my HD 10. Just as good as my older first paper edition. My only wish was that they had retained the 4 quadrant charts for each of the 12 month/time table charts for separate views looking due north, south, east, and west instead of the singular circular charts which don't work too well on Kindles with auto-rotate. Oh well, at least now I don't need a flashlight to read charts while observing. If you only only have a slight interest in the stars or Astronomy, get this book for $10. You never know, or maybe give it to a crazy kid, son, or daughter who likes watching the stars and all of nature's amazing events not on flat screens. Have fun!

Best beginner ( i.e. non-astronomer) star chart book out there. I've had 3 copies of this book since the 1980's ( the bindings do not hold up to the intended purpose) , and will buy another when this one finishes falling apart. This is the book to have with you when you and your child / grandchild learn the nighttime sky together. I went to Grand Canyon National Park a few years back to see a spectacular Leonid meteor shower and was pleased to see that this is the star guidebook that the park sold. One rub on this book, besides the binding, is finding the most recent edition because the planetary tables make each edition "dated", but Sky and Telescope and other internet sources now offer up to date planetary tables. H. A. Rey had the ability to make complex subjects of astronomy understandable to the non-scientist. I've owned this book for over 30 years and I am still enjoying it.

My favorite star book ever. If you have a day to learn the sky, read "Find the Constellations." If you have a week, read this. This book travelled with me to MIT, then to University of Colorado. Since then I've bought dozens of copies for my kids and grandkids, friends and their kids.

I recommend this series of quilt books. It has everything you need to learn to needle turn applique, plus it has beautiful patterns. This book has great photos and directions, so that you come away with confidence in your own ability.

Good book for finding good Hawaiian quilt blocks for making an Hawaiian quilt. Has a good variety. If you are interested in making an Hawaiian quilt, this is a great book for ideas.

Very nice book on Hawaiian Appliqué with some great patterns and techniques. Some of the designs are repeated in other volumes as well.

I have all of the books in this series. I have loved Hawaiian quilts for years since my first trip to Hawaii 30 years ago. All of the designs are from nature so they make sense and are beautiful.

I am fairly new to Hawaiian quilting; I am nearly finished with my fourth block and I think that the designs in this book are great. The directions in this book have you cut the design from the fabric and then baste it to the background. To anyone starting I would probably suggest trying the freezer paper method instead because I would be afraid of any raveling of the fabric. Other than that the designs are creative and imaginative. I cannot wait to try the designs in Poakalani's other two volumes.

I purchased this item as I now live in FL but still do the Hawaiian quilting so I just added this one to my collection.

Annihilation has got to be one of the worst books I have ever read. Nothing was every completely clear as to the reason of Area X, why the Southern Reach kept sending individuals to the area to do what, and what is Southern Reach? Nothing was ever explained or completed. Many questions are left unanswered and one in particular, what is this book about? The characters are very shallow, never given the chance to grow or to delve into them to see who they are. They are not given names, nor what their mission is and why keep going back to the Area X to look for what. It seems like the author took a topic and had to fill 200 pages worth of something but didn't pan out. Where does everyone go and why? Why are the journals thrown into a pile in a deserted lighthouse? Where is this place Area X and what is the moaning? Who cares?? Shallow characters, shallow storyline and shallow writing.There is nothing mysterious about this book as you keep reading you see this book is not worth reading at all. I recommend passing on this one.

TL;DR The book is full of decent and intriguing ideas that are poorly executed. There is no character for the audience to use as an anchor. It takes 160 pages for anything resembling a story to get started.This book is a surprise and mystery if you have never read metaphysical horror before. To see what Annihilation would look like if executed flawlessly, read House of Leaves. The now-commonplace horror elements of humans encountering the utterly foreign and unknowable make up the backbone of the narrative. But whereas it is on glorious and staggering display in Lovecraft, King, amd other giants, here it is reduced to a bizarre oddity that induces head-scratching instead of spine-tingling.The primary reason for this is the clashing styles. The first 160 pages of the book are so sterile and cold that even the strangest things are as interesting as unfinished jigsaw puzzles. The main character, The Biologist, states that this is to provide an objective account of events which necessotate a subjective experience in order to terrify. The last 30 pages are forced to give up the objective description, and only then does Annihilation actually become interesting.The Biologist herself is done great injustice by the first 160 pages. In providing nothing but objective descriptions of events, the author fails to establish her as anything resembling a human being. She is nothing more than a camera lens that requires occasional flashbacks by the author to establish that she has Emotions and these are often at odds with the character as portrayed. The Biologist is a heavy introvert. She eschews people for her work. This is mentioned often and in bold fashion. Yet this person married, for reasons that are never explained beyond "he offsets my introversion". The Biologist is not portrayed as a person interested in the feelings or experiences of others. Why marry?At the end of the book the semblance of a person begins to emerge from the Biologist, but by then the narrative has established her so firmly as a non-presence that her character feels like something the author shoved in when he realized there was no point to which the audience could attach. She is a walking fight between a detached third-person objective lens and a woman who wants to tell her own story. It does not end well for either party.Finally, the book simply starts. No world-building or character history or any point of reference that would be helpful for an audience seeking a way into the story. In theory this plays along with the idea that the characters themselves know little, and are themselves poorly informed. In practice it is disorienting and dull. We know nothing about the state of the world. No baseline is established. Even the characters know more than we do, as is revealed later in the book - well past halfway in. The effect is like waking up to find yourself weightless inside an empty sphere. There is no point of reference and you can only make guesses until someone pops in and tells you what is happening.There are many more small details that add up into a large pile of errors - debunked pop psychology from 1950 paired with hard science, characters that serve no purpose and go nowhere, jarring switches between clinical observation and surrealist prose, a world that is somehow both tantalizingly alien and horribly mundane - but describing those would take much longer.Read a summary on Wikipedia. I guarantee it will be much more cohesive, interesting, and above all much less time-consuming than reading this book.

The best way to begin a review about this novel (and series) is to tell potential customers what it is NOT. I believe the most enlightening way to do this is to compare it to other prominent sci-fi works with which I feel it has some similarities (and with respect to Mr. Vandermeer many differences).This is not a series by Michael Crichton. Although at times I was reminded of various Crichton works such as the Andromeda Strain, Sphere, and even Jurassic Park, Crichton takes painstaking efforts to ground the seemingly fantastical experiences in his stories with a semblance of fictional science. Crichton essentially is a magician who shows you afterwards how the trick was performed. There is no such reveal in this book (or really the series at large). Any sort of explanation (rational or irrational) is left entirely up to the reader. This can be frustrating for many people (including myself) who become engrossed in the plot and would like a finite resolution.This is also not the book Arrival which also deals with potentially extraterrestrial beings, semiotics, and language. Whereas a linguist is the protagonist and narrator of Arrival, the linguist in Annihilation pointedly drops out of the expedition before the novel even begins.What this book is, as many others have pointed out, is similar to Lost or (in my opinion) Prometheus. The writing, especially at the start, is both exciting and compelling. However, each mystery only leads to more mysteries. The main character is interesting if not rather obtuse (as many characters in sci-fi stories are -- if the crew of the Nostromo could follow simple quarantine procedures then the film Alien may have only been 15 minutes long -- but that's beside the point).As a story, it's well written and the plot is intriguing. It borders on sci-fi horror and raises many interesting questions about the human condition. Hence the 3 stars. But the lack of exposition holds it back.

I read all three books in this trilogy. The premise was interesting but nothing came of it. Lots of character development but very little action and no resolution at the end of three volumes. I am reviewing the first volume because by the time I was certain of the lack of resolution it was too late. Stop before you start unless you enjoy interesting concepts the don’t become stories or end. They just stop.

Unmasking the Administrative State, is one of the most important books of our time. Having already read books by Philip Hamburger "The Administrative Threat" and Ronald J Pestitto "Woodrow Wilson: Roots of ModernLiberalism" to start with, this book provides a great history of how Progressivism has permeated into the workings of our government. Covering the Philosophy of History and Hegelian Historicism we are able to see howConstitutionalism is being replaced by the Administrative State. I have found this book helpful in understanding why we are at this point in history. This book is a wake up call for those that want to live in a free country. Everyone needs to read this book.

I found this book too wordy by half. Editor must have been on vacation. Some sections seemed to be just a repeat of something already emphasized. Only two sections were interesting: "Roosevelt's or Reagan's America?" and "Trump and the Future of American Politics". It's too bad that, while the thesis of the book is sound, its presentation is too dense. For density try this one: "As a result, the political institutions cannot pursue a common good that must be established by defending the institutional prerogatives that make it possible for the constitutional separation of powers to work on the behalf of the American people." (page 45)

My piano teacher recommended that I purchase this book and I have started working my way through the pieces. The level is early intermediate and beyond.I like the book very much for a number of reasons. First, the pieces are in their original form and help is provided on how to play the ornaments. Second, the printing is quite large and easy to read.Third, a CD is available and I like to listen first as I begin to read. I purchased the CD separately and it is very high quality as well, with Kim Reilly playing all the pieces in a very professional manner.Fourth, I am trying to sight read some of the easier pieces and this book will certainly help me develop that skill.Fifth, the book is spiral bound and opens (and stays) perfectly on the music desk.Finally, this is completely subjective but I enjoy all the pieces so far.All in all, a great selection and the perfect supplement to any of the classical piano methods you may be using.

Nice volume of classics. Many pieces are easy enough for an early intermediate pianist. The CD that comes with this book is very good quality.

I really enjoyed this book so far. I started learning the piano a few years ago as an adult and a lot of the classical music you are given in training books such as Thompsons is not in the original form. Here it all is and with some effort you can learn to play it. As a Baroque fan I really enjoyed the first part of the book. It is excellent value and well printed and bound. I saw another review here which was very negative - the reviewer didn't like the modern selections. Well, even if you only get 10 or 20 selections you like the book is cheap enough and I quite liked some of the more modern stuff too.

Great songs, lots of simple classical stuff, but challenging enough to keep me interested and working at it. I haven't played thorough any of the contemporary pieces yet.Lots of songs. Most are 1 or 2 pages per song, which I like.I definitely recommend it for an intermediate pianist looking for great sounding classical music to work on.

This is a wonderful album for young pianists. A great selection of classical pieces. Thank you.

Great set of music, wonderful purchase

I've been teaching piano for many years and find this book very useful. It contains many important classic pieces for beginners. Also I send students to piano exams, and there are many pieces which can be used for levels 2,3 and 4.

Excellent choice of repertoire.
