I enjoyed this book immensely, but I have read several books written about Admiral Halsey and I will be honest that it paints this Admiral in a very positive light. There are several books that will provide a more honest image of Admiral Halsey. This book glosses over some of his flaws. For a unbiased account of this famous Naval Officer I recommend books written by John Wukovits or E. B. Potter, I believe that Potters book is the best account.

This was one of the best books I have read on a while. I am ex Navy and was on a destroyer tender and I remember some of the names mentioned in the book. I also was in Admiral Nimitz group.

It is impossible to describe the huge part in winning the war against Japan without speaking of Admiral Halsey. He was the King of the sea, a leader of men, a brilliant strategist and one tough man. This autobiography lacks self embellishment that usually occurs when speaking of one's self. It is straightforward, documented truth including his mistakes as well as his accomplishments. What should have been a story of this hero's life turned into a book full of Naval battles; the battles with the Japanese, the weather and with his own difficult but necessary decisions concerning the men and ships under his command. Any reader that may have past Naval service at sea will eat this up . HURRAH for America's heroes. A five star rating does not do justice to the life of Admiral Halsey. "Anchors Aweigh."

It was difficult giving this a rating. It should be higher, but this version is an unedited OCR of a typed document. It wasn't even run through a spell checker. There are numerous places where characters have been misread, and in some cases words have to be puzzled out. This is a disservice to Admiral Halsey, whom certainly didn't type them that way.

A remarkable autobiography of Admiral William Halsey Third Fleet commander in the Pacific during WWII. Great first person telling of the Naval engagements in WWII during the height of the battles against the Imperial Japanese Navy. A leading proponent of the use of Carriers, Admiral Halsey conducted the fight in his own way and lead his men to achieve great results. Period comments and points of view added an excellent sense of the times to this book.

This biography is written in a style which is easy to read. It was first published in 1947 and written soon after World War 2, so the events were still fresh in Admiral Halsey's mind.I was particularly interested in reading the Admiral's version on the events leading up to his pursuit of Japanese forces in the Phillipines which took him away from the scene of another naval battle, for which he has been criticized. Also I was interested in his account of his fleet during the time of "Halsey's Typhoon".In spite of the need for better editing in the Kindle format, I greatly enjoyed this book.

If you want to be a leader read about leaders. You won’t be disappointed with this book.

I have read many accounts on this same theme. This is one of the best I have found. It is terrific and best of all, it was written by a warrior who was there and knew from past experience just how to proceed.

Jeffrey T. Prince is Professor of Business Economics & Public Policy and Harold A. Poling Chair in Strategic Management at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. The Connect code included in this purchase is worthless if an instructor hasn't signed up through McGraw-Hill. This is not obvious from the description or from McGraw-Hill's website. A significant element of the purchase is thus worthless unless your school has also paid.Now, I'm no economist (that's why I need this book!) but I'd say that paying for access to a service that is inaccessible to me is a poor use of my resources. I'll be buying future textbooks paper, and used.

Baye may try to remain current with new editions but, otherwise, I'm not impressed.The book can use some more "real world" case studies that aren't more than a half a page as chapter introductions and a half dozen or so topics on the book's website.Chapters only skim over topics, rarely link the topic back to a company application that the reader may be familiar with, and, in reality, the strategy part referred to in the title is missing.I see little research outside of the material that has been parroted from other versions of this text or similar work by other authors. Examples on how to calculate something does not equal strategy; defining what to do after collecting information is strategy and then implementing it is called execution. Perhaps Mr. Baye can read up on Jim Collins, Ram Charan, and other people who do research on corporations and maybe even include actual quotes and examples of decisions made by managers using the topics in this book? After all, managerial economics is supposed to aide people in analyzing data and making decisions.Number one managerial economics text? I don't see why.

This is a great book for a succinct, applicable overview of economics. I have an economics undergrad and use this while getting my masters. It was great to see all the concepts I learned in undergrad applied to the real world.

Just what I needed for my MHA/MBA program. Was a book required for the dual degree.Michael Baye's book for Managerial Economics was AWESOME! I thought I would dislike this course terribly, but this book made the content approachable, easy to digest, and interesting. Lots of real world case studies and anecdotes to reinforce the points being made in the book. Fascinating look at economics and it will change the way you view everyday life, as both a consumer and as a manager.Outstanding textbook. Will definitely hold onto it for a long time. Not reselling this one.

This book was required for one of my MBA classes. I'd never taken an Economics class, so I didn't know what to expect. I've been pleasantly surprised the material is presented in a very clear and structured way. There's a great flow to the chapters and there are plenty of good explanations and and end-of-chapter problems. I learned a lot, and I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who's interested in business strategy.

Arrived Promptly, and as described. No surprises, and can confirm that book content is nearly the same as the most recent edition. PRACTICE PROBLEMS ARE NOT THE SAME AS THE NEW EDITION, nor should you expect them to be. Would strongly recommend as a cheaper alternative to the current book edition, if your homework is provided separately.

This is probably one the best books that I have read over management economics. It provides industry case studies, which is the mark of a good economics textbook. I work part-time for www.business-plans.com and we have to apply the concepts in this book for economic forecasting.

This book saved me. I passed!!!I have to be honest; I used another popular book (I won’t mention it here) when I studied the 1st time. Bottom line on the other book, I felt like I knew things, but on the exam I definitely wasn’t prepared.THIS BOOK IS WAYYYYYY better than the other one. There are four things that really really helped me and I think they will probably help a lot of people too.1. It is flows like a real story! No idea why no one did this before. The author reorganized everything so it is really logical. Basically it steps you through process by process like a real project. The impact of this might not seem big but for me it was HUGE. Things started to make sense. Also there is an ACTUAL story in the book too. Like a real story of an actual (well not actual – fictional I guess) project manager leading a project using PMP Processes. Its cool.2. If focuses on what really matters: I love how the book distills down the best points from every process and called out how every process impacts the other.3. It is written in a really positive and fun voice: I was pretty discouraged before I got this book, I didn’t want to fail the test twice. This book really helped build my confidence. It has a super positive message, really clear writing, and I felt like it was totally focused on building my skills.4. Simulator was a life saver: the people who put this book out have a simulator too. It’s really good. The book gives you a deal on getting access to it. I said, what the heck lets try it and I’m glad I did. It followed the book’s advice and took lots of little micro exams while I studied. That really helped me. I totally recommend that studying approach.I am really lucky that my friend recommended this book to me. I cannot recommend it enough.

They hit the nail on the head when they said “learn faster, retain more, pass the pmp.”The book simplifies things and explains them in a way you can understand. I really liked that. The PMBOK can be pretty dry, actually super dry, but this book turns that content into something you can follow and actually wanted to read. Good structure, lots of examples, the case story is pretty cool and you get a deal on the simulator. I recommend it.

Great book!! Really simple way to study for the PMP. Very clear, super visual, and I really loved the case study story, it took my understanding of PMP concepts to a new level. I am ready to take my exam.

Great study guide! I used this along with the PMBOK and found the break down of the processes easier to absorb. The case studies and exam questions were a great help. I passed the exam on my first try and the EVM template was so helpful to remember all of those formulas!

This book takes a different approach and it makes great sense. It takes the PMBOK Guide information and makes it human.

The story makes it relate-able, which, is great for the very esoteric terms used in the PMBOK. The other thing I really like is the ITTO inspection and PM one view.I used the boot camp method to get my pmp. I wish I had got my hands on this book before.I've recommended this to more than a few of my colleagues now.

I'm currently in a boot-camp class, using this book, and about 75% complete. I echo what the other reviewers stated: Scott puts the concepts in a logical flow with 25 case studies linking all the concepts... and the case studies are all on the same project! It's really easy to understand and study this way. Best part: I'm in Charlotte and Scott taught part of our class last Saturday on earned value! Straight from the author's mouth! So that was awesome.... you may not have the author personally teach you, but this book is the next best thing. Get it.

I used the PMBOK and broke down a week before the exam thinking I needed to cancel it because I was going to fail. I also had a quick reference guide from one of the gurus. My problem was the PMBOK is structured by knowledge areas, but to apply it you need it structured by process groups and then how those knowledge areas link together within the process groups.This book made me understand the PMI way of thinking and how the knowledge areas flow together. This book was a lifesaver, and it wasn't a bad read! I had a notebook by me while I read it over 3 days and took down key notes to help me remember formulas, chart 1.4 in the PMBOK and much more.I highly recommend this for anybody who is struggling to grasp the PMBOK!

There really are not as many calculations covering how fuel cells work as I would have wanted. It does work as an overview of the subject. Many of the graphs and graphics are poor quality, very fuzzy. You can get a general idea on the subject of fuel cells. Don't expect aything too in depth or detailed problem examples.
