This translation is fine for one read-through--if you want to get the gist--but going deeper into Plato's thought is difficult. A more literal translation, while less beautiful and smooth, would be much more stimulating.Also, I never crease my spines. I actually take great pains to avoid it. But this one just went and creased with little effort. All my friends who have this edition experienced the same thing, though some of them don't mind (the heathens)

I have been wanting to read this for as long as I can remember, and I'm trilled with this version. It's too bad this Plato guy isn't still writing - ha ha ha

Sure, this is a translation of the Timaeus, but it actually could also be called an introduction to the Timaeus... because it's the best introductory Timaeus book I've seen. Why? First, the book has a clearly written, extensive introduction (48 pages!) that covers all the major themes of the Timaeus. It's like a mini-book in itself. Second, the book has a ton of explanatory notes (many of them extensive) that go along with the translation. Finally, Waterfield has tried as hard as he can to make the translation clear and readable -- the language is modern (but not anachronistic) and flows well (as well as it can, that is, given the content). If you're looking to learn about the Timaeus, I'd highly recommend getting this, and would definitely recommend reading the introduction first. Note: Cornford's "Plato's Cosmology"http://www.amazon.com/Platos-Cosmology-The-Timaeus-Plato/dp/0872203867is also helpful for learning about the Timaeus -- it basically gives a paragraph-by-paragraph commentary. But it's a bit more advanced than Waterfield and also analyzes EVERYTHING, which doesn't help if you're trying to figure out the main themes. I'd suggest looking at Cornford after reading Waterfield, or perhaps while reading Waterfield.

The notes to this edition are quite poor, many things wrong and misrepresented. Go with Kalkavage. Zeyl second. If you're serious you should also have the Loeb edition.

Good book; already very useful. Well-organized and covers major topics in a way that is easy to understand. Website not so much. It is very difficult to navigate, find pertinent links (which don't point to the right stuff a lot of the time), and the worst part is they are trying to sell you something on every page instead of helping you with what you've bought. Simply the best Delphi book in the market and the only one you need to master in the development of movil apps with a very understable English for a foreign language.Definitely Delphi continues to be one of the best programming language and books of this level will always be welcomed. As title say, this is not an introductory book in object pascal. Eyeshield is amazing as always! I continue to be impressed by how well they make the opposing team feel so relatable. This volume continues a game that was already in progress between the Deimon Devilbats and their greatest rival: the Oujou White Knights. Shin vs. Sena for best running back. Sakuraba vs. Monta for best receiver. Takami vs. Hiruma for best quarterback. All three of these relationships are focused upon for a good deal of the volume, with Hiruma far more limited by the abilities of his teammates than by his own ability to calculate and execute. They are a smaller team with less experience, so their options are few, and the special operations with individual names require the players to hit the opposition with everything they have. Monta and Sena together have developed some techniques to counter the superior height and strength of Sakuraba and Shin, and Monta's amazing "devil backfire" involves catching behind his own head without looking. The storytelling really shines here--the writing and art manages to make it feel like you're watching it on a screen instead of reading it.Hiruma, as always, is one of my favorite highlights, and he's in typical top form in this story, swearing and fuming over his lack of options and then figuring he might as well not waste energy as he dives into committing his team to execute its deadly moves. The back-and-forth between the two teams seeming to fail at their intended play and then saying "Is that what you thought I'd say?" was amazing. It went on so long that you can barely believe it still makes sense by the end, but that's Hiruma for you. Ten steps ahead. Oh, and of course when he doesn't have other options, Hiruma either broadcasts his intentions to the other team because he doesn't care that they probably already know what he wants to do, or he does something that makes no sense just because no one will suspect it. He's really a mastermind.The other teams' players and even a couple significant sports people coming into the stands to watch the Deimon/Oujou game was really fun. Their commentary is especially fun when you know the players and remember their history. Honjou, Monta's baseball hero, is actually there observing and getting excited over Monta's catching abilities, and you think he's going to fall apart because that's his idol, but he takes it very maturely and is able to concentrate on the game. (I love that he and Sakuraba turn out to both be Honjou fans and baseball nerds.) Agon's commentary is great as always as well. And I was amused at Ikkyu being pissed off that Monta had developed such skill.And I've got to say the cute little in-betweeners showing us how certain Oujou and Deimon players compare to each other on a bunch of silly categories were really, really funny! They match Shin and Sena up: Sena has better conversational skills and Shin would win in a fight (if either fought). Monta has better toe and finger dexterity than Sakuraba, but Sakuraba has better grades. Takami is pickier about food, has a tidier room, and is slightly more honest than Hiruma. Hiruma, however, would be the superior karaoke singer if either of them did such things. (If you're curious, in a comparison between Ootawara and Kurita, Kurita eats more food and Ootawara makes more doody.)I love that you always think Oujou is going to lose and Deimon is going to triumph, and then something happens. You can always count on this manga to keep you guessing and never feel like it's a sure thing the heroes are going to win--because sometimes, they don't.

I Highly recommend it as it was clear and accurate free of outside opinions.

This is the one you’ve been waiting for. Side by side English and German, so I can both work on my German and critique the translation. Highly recommended if you want to make a real study of this work. Looking forward to Vol. 2, which I assume will follow at some point, although I have months of study here.

I read this book a long, long time ago in Spanish, my mother had it, and it was very interesting to read it again in English. It is a very serious book, sometimes difficult because you have to read it with an open mind, sad too, in the end. liked it a lot, learned new things that I had forgotten with the years. I learn to view life with a different lens.

Good read, would recommend. Sheds light on early 20th century European history and one man's interpretation of the first world war and the after-effects. Filled with tirades and arguments against parliamentary democracy, Jews, Communism, prostitution, race mixing, and more as well as Hitlers views on how to counter these threats to his nationalistic vision. And despite long tirades and arguments, always eventful and never boring. Some notes are included to provide basic background for readers who might not be familiar with German history and cultural references.

To appreciate the light that exists in the world you have to study the darkness and it’s roots as well. Hitler is a historical figure that all should study, even though buying this book will probably get you put on a list somewhere. Learning about his motives and perspective will help you better understand the danger that could exist in your own.

If you read this book with focus, objectivity, and equip yourself with the tools for critical thinking, you will gain much insight into the causes of these endless wars and social upheavals that plague the planet today.Good luck,

Easy to read and timely -- covers alternatives to typical bank financing in book form and now that area is moving and changing so quickly that it is mostly discussed in blogs and online forums. Provides good checklists for things to note, do, and watch out for in financing and closing real estate deals. The "Takeaways" section at the end of each chapter did not work for me -- I expected a summary of the chapter, but instead these were very broad questions asking the reader to apply the chapter's ideas to his/her real estate activities. With such short chapters, I found them disruptive to the flow of the book. But a minor criticism -- good information in an accessible format.

This guide takes the mystery out of finding and getting the funds you need for Real Estate Investing. It enables you to speak the language so necessary to communicate effectively with potential investors. Well done.

Great information that lays out the details of funding real estate projects. Anyone who has ever dabbled in real estate knows that funding is the most challenging aspect of the business. I think even the most experienced investor could learn something new from this book.
